The 2009 Safe Schools Award of Excellence was presented to Northwest ISD in recognition of its diligent efforts towards providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students and promoting safety through emergency response training and awareness activities.

2009 Lifetime Achivement Award
The 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award for Law Enforcement was presented to Chief Pat Fuller of the Austin ISD Police Department for his outstanding vision, dedication, and commitment to ensure the safety and security of Austin ISD students as well as students across Texas.
